Police track down fugitives outside city

Arrest 2 wanted in beating, robbery with gun

HAVERHILL — Haverhill’s fight against street crime with the help of federal agents is reaching outside the city, as U.S. marshals tracked down two fugitives wanted in connection with a beating and a gun incident in Haverhill.

The city’s Gang Task Force and U.S. marshals arrested the fugitives this week — one in a Tewksbury motel and the other in a trailer park in Salem, N.H., police said.

Wil Wade, 19, of Haverhill was arrested by marshals with help from Tewksbury police at the Motel 6 in Tewksbury. He was wanted on a charge of assault and battery causing substantial bodily injury, police said.

Wade is accused of beating a Haverhill man late on the afternoon of June 3 on White Street, police said. They said the victim received serious injuries from the assault. U.S. marshals located and arrested Wade on June 11 at 11 a.m., police said.

Wade was arraigned in Haverhill District Court and held pending a hearing next week to determine if he is too dangerous to be released on bail.

The other fugitive, Alan King, 33 of Haverhill, was arrested by marshals and Haverhill Gang Task Force members with help from Salem, N.H., police on Thursday at 3 p.m. in a trailer park on Route 28 in Salem.

King was arrested on a Haverhill warrant for armed robbery with a gun involving an incident on April 28 on Marble Street, where a man was robbed at gunpoint, police said. Two other Haverhill men were also charged in this incident previously by Gang Task Force members and marshals. They are Michael Walsh, 21, and Doulas Plourde, 28, police said. Those men are charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

U.S. marshals have been working in Haverhill to help local police in their fight against street crime in the inner-city Acre and Mount Washington areas. Neighbors have complained about crimes including stabbings and incidents involving guns. The last FBI statistics available, those from 2012, show Haverhill with the 15th highest violent crime rate among Massachusetts communities.
