Fire under control at Haverhill hotel

HAVERHILL — Police said an electrical fault may have led to a fire that burned through a small area of the roof of the Best Western at 401 Lowell Ave., opposite Westgate Plaza.

Police said firefighters had to cut holes through the roof to reach the source of the fire.

By 11:50 a.m., the fire had been extinguished.

A ladder truck and a few pumper trucks are still on the scene but are no longer pouring water on the roof.

No injuries were reported.
