Man shoots self after police stand-off in NH

KEENE, N.H. (AP) — A New Hampshire man is dead after a four-hour stand-off with police in Keene.

Officers say they were trying to serve a warrant on the man Tuesday night on charges he received stolen property and violated parole when he fled, clutching a handgun to his body.

WMUR reports the man fled to a nearby apartment, where he held them at bay for about four hours before turning the gun on himself.

He was taken to Cheshire Medical Center, where he died.

Police are withholding his name pending an autopsy, positive identification and notification of next of kin.
