Fireworks, festivals get new dates, but some communities still undecided

With rain and clouds a possibility for tomorrow, some local communities have postponed their fireworks and festivals, while others remain undecided.

Boston is going against that trend, moving its fireworks from Friday to tomorrow night.

Some of the new dates for Merrimack Valley and Southern New Hampshire fireworks are later than the original Saturday night postponement date.

Here's a closer look at fireworks and other Independence Day events:

Boston has moved its celebration to tomorrow at 8:30 p.m. Storrow Drive will be closed at noon and Massachusetts Avenue and the Longfellow Bridge at 6 p.m. for the concert. If the weather is poor tomorrow, organizers said they may postpone the events to a date to be announced.

Haverhill will decide at 8 tonight or early tomorrow morning whether to reschedule its festival set for 6 p.m. tomorrow and the fireworks to follow at 9:15 p.m. at Riverside Park. If the events are postponed, they will move to the same times Monday.

North Andover has postponed its fireworks, originally scheduled for tomorrow night, and will have the display July 12 at 9 p.m. at the Middle School.

Methuen will decide early tomorrow afternoon whether to postpone the fireworks scheduled to follow tomorrow's 6:30 p.m. festival at Nicholson Stadium. The rain date is Saturday.

Lawrence's fireworks are planned for their original date of tomorrow at 9:30 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Stadium, following a festival that starts there at 6 p.m. If there is a change, it will be made by 8 a.m. tomorrow and announced then, organizers said. They had previously moved the events from Thursday to Saturday, but today reverted to the original Thursday plan.

Andover's fireworks display is still planned for its original date of tomorrow at dusk at Andover High School. The rain date is Saturday.
