BRENTWOOD — A Plaistow mother is serving a two-and-a-half- to seven-year prison sentence after suddenly agreeing to plead guilty to charges she failed to protect her young son from abuse.
Jessica Linscott, 24, and her attorney told Rockingham Superior Court Judge Marguerite Wageling yesterday that she wanted to take responsibility for what happened to her 3-year-old son, according to Deputy County Attorney Thomas Reid.
Linscott pleaded guilty to a felony witness tampering charge and four counts of endangering the welfare of a child, Reid said. The guilty plea Tuesday was not expected, he said. Linscott's trial was scheduled to begin July 29.
Linscott's boyfriend, Roland Dow, 27, of Plaistow, has been charged with abusing the child, who is now 4. Dow allegedly assaulted the boy and burned his wrist and fingers.
Linscott is expected to testify against Dow at his trial in September, Reid said.
