Woman killed on I-495 in Haverhill

A woman pedestrian was hit by a vehicle and killed this morning on Interstate 495 South in Haverhill, state police said.

The accident happened shortly before 9 a.m. near Exit 49, River Street.

No further details were available.

Traffic was backed up for miles, and state police said the left lane of I-495 South remains closed.
