14 homeless in Bruce St. fire

LAWRENCE — Fourteen people were left homeless after a three-alarm fire at 196 Bruce St. early this morning.

Lawrence Fire Chief Jack Bergeron said the call came at 2:05 a.m. and the blaze went to three alarms shortly after.

"When the first truck arrived, there was heavy fire coming from the windows on the third floor," Bergeron said.

Assisting at the scene were Methuen, Andover and Lowell fire fighters. Departments from North Andover, Dracut and Salem, N.H. covered the stations, Bergeron said.
