DANVERS — There will be a transition back to school in Danvers, after Danvers High math teacher Colleen Ritzer was found dead in a wooded area behind the high school.
A student, 14-year-old Philip Chism, has been charged with first-degree murder.
On Thursday, Oct. 24. all pre-kindergarten through grade 8 students will return to school, according to Superintendent Lisa Dana. Danvers High will be open to students and families from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with counselors and grief specialists on site. Later that day, at 6:30 p.m., there will be a high school parent information meeting in the Danvers High field house.
Friday, Oct. 25, will be a full day for all schools.
"Although classroom instruction will continue, I anticipate that the next few days will be particularly difficult," Dana said in a ConnectED message to the school community.
