NORTH ANDOVER — A North Andover man tortured his stepdaughters over a five-year span by hitting them with a hammer, pulling on their tongues with pliers and threatening to have the girls raped and killed by a motorcycle gang, according to court documents.
Justin Ladd, 33, of 138 High St., was held without bail yesterday after he was arraigned in Lawrence District Court on 21 criminal counts including indecent assault and battery on a child under age 14, open and gross lewdness, assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and intimidation of a witness.
The girls Ladd allegedly abused, now ages 14 and 16, are now in the custody of the state Department of Children and Families, according to court papers.
During recent interviews with DCF and North Andover police, the two girls reported abuse that occurred from September 2008 to February 2013, according to court papers.
The girls told police that Ladd would make them exercise excessively, forcing them to do push ups and sit ups for as long as possible. When the exercise became too demanding and they would stop, Ladd hit them with a hammer, according to a police report by North Andover Officer Michael Reardon.
The girls said if they did things Ladd didn’t like “he would grab a pair of pliers and pull on the girls’ tongues,” according to Reardon’s report.
The girls also told police they were called racial slurs by Ladd, who they described as a “white supremacist” who has the words “white power” tattoed across his stomach. The older girl told police she felt Ladd never liked her or her sister because they were part Latino, according to Reardon’s report.
Ladd is also accused of touching the girls’ nipples and having them “twist and touch” his nipples, according to the police report.
He allegedly threatened if they told their mother about this or any incident “he would get his motorcycle group,” believed to be the Hells Angels, “to kill and rape” the girls, according to Reardon’s report.
