Newly charged Tsarnaev friend to remain in jail

---- — BOSTON (AP) — A recently indicted friend of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects has been ordered held without bail, because his lawyer can't find him a place to live if he were released.

Khairullozhon Matanov (hy-ROO'-luh-zhahn MAH'-tuh-nahf) is accused of deleting computer files and lying to agents investigating the 2013 bombings, which killed three and injured more than 260.

At a detention hearing Wednesday, Matanov waived his right to seek bail, because he has no family in the U.S. and no place to live if he were released.

An FBI agent testified that Matanov sent more than $71,000 to people in six countries, often using false names, from 2010 to 2013.

Defense lawyer Edward Hayden said the money went to Matanov's family and friends and had nothing to do with terrorism.
