Oppenheim wins Stage 2 with blistering 21-under-par

Rob Oppenheim's passed a big step yesterday in hopes of gaining his PGA Tour card for the 2013 season.

The Andover native, who living in Orlando, shot a 21 under par, to win Stage 2 of the PGA Tour Qualifying School tourney in Plantation, Fla. by four strokes.

Oppenheim led this tournament from the first day, when he shot an 8-under 63. He followed it up with rounds of 67, 66 and 67.

The top 19 advance to the Final Stage, which will be in La Quinta, Calif., Nov. 28 to Dec. 3 (six rounds).

Hector Longo will talk to Oppenheim and have a report in Saturday's Eagle-Tribune.
