Charges against child abuse suspect are upgraded

BRENTWOOD — Rockingham County Attorney Jim Reams said charges against Roland Dow, 27, of Plaistow have been upgraded to include single counts each of first- and second-degree assault. Each charge carries a potential 10- to 30-year prison sentence.

Dow and girlfirend Jessica Linscott, 23, are wanted in connection with injuries to Linscott's 3-year-old son.

Linscott faces six charges of endangering the welfare of a child; Dow faces five endangerment charges. Those charges are all misdemeanors.

Police believe Dow and Linscott are in New Hampshire or Massachusetts, but would not be more specific at a midday press conference.

The little boy is at Children's Hospital at Dartmouth, in stable condition, being treated for multiple burns and bruises.

Reams said police have received a number of tips about the couple's whereabouts, but they have not been located. When they are, he emphasized, they will be charged and prosecuted in New Hampshire.

He reiterated it would be best if the couple surrendered — sooner, rather than later.

Plaistow police Lt. William Baldwin said they believe someone is helping Dow and Linscott elude police.

The young boy was brought to Exeter Hospital last week and arrest warrants were issued Friday.

Anyone with information is asked to call the U.S. Marshal's Office at (603) 225-1632.
