Haverhill man struck, killed by car

HAVERHILL — An 81-year-old Haverhill man died after being hit by a car late yesterday afternoon.

Carrie Kimball-Monahan, a spokeswoman for Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett, said Stanley Paszko, of 316 Water St., Haverhill, was crossing the street to get back to his house shortly before 5 p.m. when he struck by a 2007 Hyundai Sonata.

Paszko was pronounced dead at Merrimack Valley Hospital, Kimball-Monahan said.

Investigators were not releasing the name of the 34-year-old Andover man who was driving the car.

"He is cooperating with the investigation, which remains active," Kimball-Monahan said last night.

The state police accident reconstruction team and Haverhill police were investigating the crash.

Less than two hours later, the state police reconstruction team was called to Route 110 in Methuen near Interstate 495. An unidentified man fleeing police on a motorcycle struck a car and was thrown 40 to 50 feet officials said. He was airlifted to a Boston hospital with what officials described as serious injuries. No further information was available.
