North Andover man found to be a danger to others

LAWRENCE — A North Andover man accused of choking his sister to the point where she thought she was going to die will spend the next 90 days behind bars at Middleton jail.

Lawrence District Court Judge Michael Brooks determined yesterday that Anthony Edwards poses a potential danger to others and ordered him held without bail.

Edwards, 49, of 22B Ardmore Court, faces charges of attempted murder and domestic assault and battery.

Edwards’ 48-year-old sister told police she got into an argument with the suspect Halloween night.

The argument became physical, according to North Andover police Lt. Charles Gray. Another man who was at Edwards’ home pulled him away from his sister, who feared being choked to death, Gray said.

Officers interviewing her the next day saw redness on her neck, according to a report Patrolman Jason Wedge filed with Lawrence District Court.

Edwards will face a probable cause hearing on the felony charge of attempted murder.
