Nightclub overdose victim was Derry woman

DERRY — A 19-year-old Derry woman has been identified as the victim of a fatal overdose at The House of Blues nightclub in Boston.

Brittany Flannigan, a 2012 Pinkerton Academy graduate, was a student at Plymouth State University.

PSU released a statement in wake of her death.

"Plymouth State University extends condolences to the family and friends of Brittany Flannigan," the statement said. "Brittany was a familiar figure on campus and her presence will be missed by all who knew her and loved her."

Jake Wark, spokesman for the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office, said this morning his office is continuing to investigate the death and overdoses suffered by two other people at the club early Wednesday.

He said he would not release the Derry woman's name until an autopsy is complete. he said his office would only release her name if her death is determined to be a homicide.

He said he also couldn't release the identities of the other two — a man and woman in their 20s. The three did not know each other.

The House of Blues has voluntarily closed for the immediate future, Wark said.

A Facebook page was created yesterday in Flannigan's memory.
