Some towns hold 9/11 ceremonies

Some Southern New Hampshire towns are commemorating the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks this week.

Here’s a look at what’s happening:

:DERRY: A ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. tomorrow at the central fire station, 131 E. Broadway. The service includes the chiming of bells at Central Congregational Church, the playing of bagpipes and a moment of silence.

LONDONDERRY: American Legion Post 27 hosts a commemorative ceremony tomorrow at 8:45 a.m. at the Londonderry Town Common. The Common is at the intersection of Mammoth and Pillsbury Roads.

PLAISTOW: The town is holding a gathering tomorrow at the Town Green at 8:45 a.m.

There will be a moment of silence in memory of Plaistow resident Carol Flyzik, who was on American Airlines Flight 11, which crashed into the World Trade Center.

Students from Pollard School will read poems and remarks will be made by Plaistow fire Chief John McArdle and American Legion Post 34 Commander Dave Meaney.

The Town Green is located in front of Town Hall at 145 Main St.

SALEM: The fire department will hold a brief ceremony at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow at the fire station, 152 Main St. The flag will be lowered to half staff and there will be a moment of silence in addition to remarks by Assistant fire Chief Paul Parisi.

:WINDHAM: The fire department is holding a Memorial Remembrance Service at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow.

The public is invited to the event at the fire station 3 Fellows Road.
