Thieves break into another 13 unlocked cars in North Andover

NORTH ANDOVER — A thief or thieves stole various items from 13 cars in North Andover on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.

Most if not all of the cars were unlocked, according to police Lt. Charles Gray. Several other vehicles were entered during the weekend and six more were violated Monday. Stolen items included GPS devices, an iPod and loose change.

A resident reported at 7:58 a.m. Wednesday that loose change was stolen from an unlocked car at 49 Bradstreet Road. Another car across the street, at 50 Bradstreet Road, was also entered, according to the police log. Nothing was reported stolen in that incident.

A resident at 61 Brentwood Circle reported a car there was entered and a wallet stolen from it. Some of the victims told police that nothing was stolen from their vehicles, that the culprit had merely rummaged through their belongings.

Other cars were entered at 114 Second St.; 6 Timber Lane; 132 Brentwood Circle; 132 Chestnut St.; 101 Second St.; 102 Second St.; 191 Brentwood Circle; 86 Second St.; 159 Waverly Road; and 13 Morris St.

“Residents need to lock their cars at night and not store valuables in them,” Gray said, repeating a warning he issued a few days ago. The thefts remain under investigation, he added.
