Laboy ordered to pay schools back $10k

---- — LAWRENCE - Ex-Schools Superintendent Wilfredo Laboy was ordered to pay $10,000 in restitution to the school department today.

Judge Robert Cornetta ordered the restitution based upon an agreement reached between the Essex District Attorney's Office and Laboy's lawyer Scott Gleason. The amount of restitution was determined through a review of trial testimony and evidence presented at trial.

On March 23, 2012, Judge Richard Welch ordered Laboy to pay restitution to the Lawrence Public Schools following his conviction on five counts of fraud and embezzlement charges. Laboy was also sentenced to two years in the House of Correction with 90 days to be served, followed by three years of probation which including one year of house arrest, and 600 hours of community service.
