Motorcycle rider killed in crash

LAWRENCE — A man died of serious injuries tonight after his motorcycle collided with a taxi cab at the intersection of Park and Bennington streets, police said.

Even as investigators received word from Massachusetts General Hospital shortly after 9 p.m. that the man had not survived the crash, police were having trouble identifying the victim, according to police Chief John Romero.

"We can't even notify next of kin yet because we don't know who it is," Romero said late tonight.

The crash occurred shortly before 7 p.m. in a residential area in the city's Arlington neighborhood, about a block from the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center at 150 Park St.

As of late tonight, no charges had been filed.

A complete report will appear in Thursday's edition of The Eagle-Tribune.
