Woman, 25, struck by car on I-93 in Salem

SALEM —

A 25-year-old Manchester woman was injured after her car broke down on Interstate 93 North near the Windham Town Line and she got too close to passing traffic and was struck by a car.

Just after 8:30 last night, troopers from State Police Troop B in Bedford responded to a report of motor vehicle accident described as a pedestrian having been struck by a vehicle.

Preliminary  investigation revealed a 2008 Subaru, operated by Jessica Kimball had become disabled and was stopped in the breakdown lane. Kimball got out of her car and was in the road when she was struck by a second vehicle, a 2006 Saab driven by Gayle Baker, 49, of Windham.

Kimball was transported to Parkland Medical Center in Derry for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The northbound lanes of I-93 remained restricted for about 3 hours while Troopers from Troop B and the State Police Technical Accident Reconstruction Team worked to investigate the crash. The highway was cleared and completely re-opened by 11:30 pm.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this collision. Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to contact Trooper Monaco or Ditolla at Troop B in Bedford at 603-666-3333.
