Lawrence shooting leaves man in critical condition

LAWRENCE — A male was shot in the neck yesterday afternoon at the corner of Lawrence and Alder streets at approximately 3:55 p.m.

The victim was taken Lawrence General Hospital, then transported to a hospital in Boston. Officials described his injuries as potentially fatal and life-threatening.

At press time, he was listed in critical condition, according to Carrie Kimball-Monahan, spokesperson for the Essex County District Attorney’s office.

The victim’s name has not been released yet, pending the notification of his next of kin. Kimball-Monahan could not say how old the victim was or release any other information about the victim or the shooting.

Lawrence police blocked off parts of Lawrence, Alder and Park streets during their investigation.

No one is in custody at the moment. The gunman is believed to have fled down Lawrence Street.

Lawrence police, State Police and the Essex County District Attorney’s Office are still investigating the shooting.

Neither Lawrence or State police could be reached for comment.
