Icy conditions blamed for bus crash

DERRY — A school bus crash closed Route 102 briefly yesterday afternoon.

A Honda Civic collided with a First Student school bus at around 3 p.m. on Route 102 by Pioneer Valley Road. There were no injuries.

“Another vehicle slid on the ice and came across the double yellow lines,” First Student spokeswoman Stephanie Creech said. “It hit the front and back tires of the bus.”

Derry School District business administrator Jane Simard said a female Pinkerton student was the only passenger on the bus. Superintendent Laura Nelson went to the scene.

The road was closed for an hour due to the crash.
