Escaped prisoner captured

LAWRENCE — Essex County Sheriff’s Department deputies have captured a prisoner who walked away from the Correctional Alternative Center last week.

Joseph St. Laurent, 33, of 72 Pleasant St., Methuen, faces an additional charge of escape from a correctional facility.

Officials at the minimum security jail off Marston Street, commonly known as “The Farm,” noticed St. Laurent was missing Friday afternoon.

Sheriffs Deputies Sean Richards and Jose Hernandez found St. Laurent walking down the street, near the corner of South Union Street and Salem streets Saturday morning.

“Our officers approached him and they apprehended him without incident,” Assistant Superintendent Maurice E. Pratt of the Sheriff’s Department said yesterday.
