Local man faces drunk driving, other charges after failing to stop for police

ANDOVER — A failure to stop at a red light resulted in multiple charges, including drunk driving, for a local man early Friday morning.

Daniel Gillette, 44, of 19 Moraine St., was driving on Main Street and ignored a red light as he took a right turn on Chestnut Street, police said. Officer Brian Blouin put on his flashing blue lights and followed Gillette, but he refused to stop, according to police.

Blouin continued to follow Gillette until he arrived at his house. When the officer confronted Gillette, he took a swing at Blouin and hit him in the arm, police said.

Other officers arrived and Gillette struggled while they were handcuffing him, police said.

Gillette was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of liquor, assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, failure to stop for police, marked lanes violation and failure to stop for a red light.
