---- — HAVERHILL — Police are searching for a man who walked into the American Grocery on Main Street to purchase a pack of cigarettes then pulled out a knife and demanded money from the store clerk. Police said the suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Police described the suspect as a clean-shaven man, ages 22 to 26, who was dressed in a light colored winter hat with stripes and tassels and a gray hoodie with “New York” on the front.
At approximately 1:39 p.m. yesterday police were dispatched to American Grocery, 426 Main St., on a report of an armed robbery.
The store clerk told police that a man entered the store and requested a pack of Newport cigarettes and then brandished a knife and demanded money. The clerk gave the man an undisclosed amount of cash.
Police said it appeared the robber left the store with an accomplice in a silver, two-door sedan with Massachusetts license plates that included the numbers 775.
