Fire strikes triple-decker on Hall St.

Appears six families were displaced

LAWRENCE - Firefighters are at the scene of a 3-alarm fire in a triple-decker house near the corner of Berkeley and Hall streets.

Flames were jetting from the roof of the building at 32 Hall St. when firefighters arrived.

Firefighters deployed the department's 85-foot high snorkel truck to pour water down onto the roof.

The roof appeared to be totally burned away, according to Eagle-Tribune photographer Paul Bilodeau.

Police at the scene said the triple-decker appeared to have six apartments.

Firefighters searched the inside of the building, but found no one inside, Bilodeau was told.

It appears that several families will be displaced.

The fire was still burning badly at 5:02 p.m.
