Holiday Happenings

Area communities are planning their town events for holiday activities. The following is a list of some of the events taking place in the Merrimack Valley and Southern New Hampshire over the next couple of weeks.


What: Annual Andover Holiday Parade, sponsored by the Andover Firefighters

When: Sunday, Nov. 27, starts at 1 p.m.; Rain date, Dec. 4

Where: Downtown Andover, Whittier to Elm to Main to Punchard to Bartlet.


What: Tree lighting

When: Sunday, Nov. 27, 5 p.m.

Where: Dow Common,


What: Holiday parade

When: Saturday, Nov. 26, 1 p.m.

Where: The parade marches down Broadway, to Crystal Avenue, and ends at Hood Commons.


What: Holiday parade

When: Saturday, Dec. 10., 2 p.m.; Rain date Dec. 11.

Where: The parade starts on Main Street at Holiday Lane and ends on Main street at Emerson Ave.

North Andover

What: Santa Claus parade

When: Saturday, Nov. 26, at 12 p.m.

Where: The parade starts at the North Andover Middle School.

Salem, N.H.

What: Santa parade

When: Sunday, Nov. 27, at 1 p.m.

Where: Parade starts on North Policy Street and travels down Main Street to Salem High School on Geremonty Drive.

What: Salem Lions Club's Annual Christmas Tree Lighting

When: Thursday, Dec. 1, 6:30 p.m.

Where: Veterans Common, corner of Bridge and Main streets, Salem, N.H.


What: Tree lighting, Santa's arrival

When: Saturday, Dec. 3, from 3 to 5 p.m.

Where: Town Hall/Town Common
