LAWRENCE — Two men were arrested this morning and charged with the murder of a Lowell man on the afternoon of Sept. 9 on Union Street.
Jose Rivera, 32, of 176 Farnham St., Lawrence, and Albert Vasquez, 18, of 22 Camden St., were arrested today and charged with the murder of Martin Butt, 28.
After an intensive investigation by members of the State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Essex County District Attorney's Office and members of the Lawrence Police Detective Unit, arrest warrants were obtained and the suspects were taken into custody at their residences without incident this morning.
Both suspects will be arraigned at Lawrence District Court this afternoon.
The arrests were made with the assistance of the State Police STOP team, Lawrence Police, Methuen Police, State Police Crime Scene Services Section, State Police K9, Essex County Drug Task Force and the DEA Cross Border Initiative.
Two others have already been arrested in connection with Butt's death.
Immediately after the incident, police arrested Stephanie Coleman, 22, and Christopher Ansara, 27, of 96 Ashland St., Methuen, and charged them with one count each of accessory before the fact, murder.
