Londonderry fire officials confirm fire was fatal

LONDONDERRY — Fire officials confirmed there was a fatality in a fire in Whispering Pines Trailer Park earlier this afternoon.

But officials would not release details, including the age or gender of the victim, the cause of death nor the origin of the fire.

The call came in at 12:59 p.m. Derry firefighters were first on the scene. Firefighters found a mobile home at 17 Norwich Place fully engulfed in flame.

Multiple departments responded to the scene. An ambulance was seen leaving the park shortly after the alarm came in.

Neighbors said a mother and her two young children lived in the home.

The yard was filled with toys. A crib was visible through one of the shattered windows.

Fire Chief Kevin MacCaffrie said another press briefing would be held at about 4 p.m., but said there might not be any more significant information released at that time.
