Tonight is a busy one for Methuen police

Officers investigating pedestrian accident, child falling from a second floor porch and two-car crash involving teens

METHUEN — This has been a frantic night for firefighters and police who responded to three incidents involving injuries that were described as potentially serious.

Earlier this evening, a 3-year-old child fell from a second floor porch of a home on Kenwood Road. Initial reports from police indicate the child wasn't seriously injured, but was taken to the hospital. He was later released to his parents.

The State Police accident reconstruction unit was called in to assist in the investigation of a two-car crash on Weybosset Street shortly before 7:30 p.m.

Firefighters used a hydraulic jack to free an injured passengers from the wreckage, who was later treated for what police described as "serious injuries" – a broken femur and facial injuries. He was expected to be transferred to a Boston hospital.

The two other teens involved in the crash were transported to the hospital as a precautionary measure, but received minor injuries.

At about the time of the car crash, emergency crews were dispatched for a pedestrian hit by a car in front of the Central Fire Station at Pelham and Lowell streets.

Police said the pedestrian was apparently grazed by the car, in what was described as a minor accident.
