14 arrested in Haverhill traffic sweep

HAVERHILL — On Friday night, it may have seemed like the city was on lockdown — especially with rumors circulating about a shooting on Primrose Street.

However, there was no shooting, and the police presence involved city and state police making numerous traffic stops.

The joint operations led to 14 arrests — 10 of them for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle or driving after revocation or suspension of a driver’s license.

One person was arrested for possession of cocaine and carrying a dangerous weapon.

Several people were picked up on outstanding arrest warrants.

The Essex County Sheriff’s Department accompanied unmarked and marked cruisers during the traffic stops, transporting prisoners back to the police station where they were booked.
