Home burglarized on Bridge Street in Salem

SALEM — A Bridge Street resident returned home late Tuesday night to discover her home had been burglarized, Deputy police Chief Shawn patten said yesterday.

The woman arrived home at about 11:30 p.m. and found the back door to her home had been forced open.

She left her home and called police.

Police responded and once they determined there was no one in the house, they went through the residence with the victim. The victim soon realized more than $1,000 in jewelry had been taken from her home, Patten said.

The call came just 45 minutes after police responded to a drive-by shooting on Lake Street. No one was injured in that incident, although police recovered bullets from the house siding.

“At this point, we don’t think they’re related,” Patten said of the two incidents.
