Delayed school session attracts 150 voters

WINDHAM – A $31 million middle school project is on the way to the March 12 Town Meeting ballot.

Voters sent the project along at Saturday night’s storm delayed school deliberative session held at the high school.

About 150 people attended the meeting, which lasted two hours and 20 minutes.

None of the warrant articles were amended at the deliberative session.

The meeting originally was scheduled for Friday night, but the blizzard forced moderator Betty Dunn to reschedule.

A $45.6 million school operating budget also is headed to the ballot. That would add 92 cents to the $23.05 per $1,000 property valuation tax rate.

Voters also will consider funding a new teacher contract, with an estimated $107,259 additional cost for 2013-2014.

Detailed presentations concerning the budget and middle school project are available by visiting the school district’s website, windhamsd.org.

The town deliberative session, postponed from Saturday, is set for 7 p.m. tonight at the high school, 64 London Bridge Road.
