Boston sports radio host Ordway out, cites ratings

BOSTON (AP) — A longtime Boston sports radio host has been let go.

WEEI says it has decided to part ways with Glenn Ordway, co-host of “The Big Show.” Ordway announced on the air his last day will be Friday.

Ordway told listeners Wednesday sports radio is a ratings-driven business and “it’s obvious” his show isn’t “getting the ratings.” He says he isn’t retiring after nearly 20 years at the station and will work on other media projects.

Jason Wolfe is vice president of programming for WEEI parent company Entercom Boston and says he’s been with Ordway at the station since Day 1. He calls Ordway “an icon.” He says Ordway helped build WEEI into “arguably the most successful sports station in history.”

WEEI says Michael Holley will host the show for the foreseeable future.
