SALEM, N.H. — A 23-year-old Boxford man is still fighting for his life this morning after being pulled unconscious from the water at the public beach at Millville Lake around 9:30 last night.
Allen Michael Christi, 23, was in critical condition at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston after he was pulled from the water by a friend, Leo Porter.
Christi "had no pulse and was unresponsive" at the scene, said Lt. Steve Malisos.
Porter and off-duty police Sgt. Jim Chase revived the victim by performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation on him.
Christi was rushed by ambulance to Lawrence Municipal Airport and then flown to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston where he was in critical condition as of around 8 a.m. today, according to a hospital spokesman.
Porter said that Christi is an ex-Marine who has a 2-year-old daughter. He works at G and C Landscaping in Haverhill and his mother lives in Bradford, Porter said.
Further details on the incident were unavailable this morning as Salem Police Public Affairs officer Shawn Patten could not be reached.
