Airman charged in Londonderry rape

Woman was unconscious at state shed in Londonderry

LONDONDERRY — A member of the U.S. Air Force has been charged with rape after he allegedly sexually assaulted an unconscious woman at a state highway shed, police said.

Jolin Daigneault, 30, of Las Vegas turned himself in to police Monday on a felony rape charge stemming from an incident July 6 at the Department of Transportation shed on Mammoth Road, police Lt. Timothy Jones said yesterday.

Daigneault, a former Manchester resident and senior airman stationed at Nellis Air Force in Nevada, approached the 32-year-old woman at a Manchester nightclub and convinced her to allow him to drive her home, a police affidavit said.

The woman had first met Daigneault years earlier, according to the affidavit, written by Londonderry police Detective Donald LaDuke.

“They were acquaintances,” he said.

But Daigneault didn’t immediately drive the inebriated woman home.

Instead, he took her to the highway shed, where she was brutally raped, the affidavit said.

The woman told police she passed out in Daigneault’s rental car after having six alcoholic drinks and didn’t remember the trip to the shed.

She said she woke up in pain and covered in blood. The woman later went to Parkland Medical Center and police were notified.

After leaving the shed in the early morning, the woman told police she recalled stopping at a Mobil station at the intersection of Routes 128 and 28.

During an interview with police, the woman drew a map of the shed and surroundings buildings that police were able to match to the crime scene.

At the Mobil station, the woman said Daigneault wiped some of the blood from her body and the front and rear seats of the car.

But not all of it.

Police later obtained a warrant to search the vehicle and test blood stains found in the vehicle, traced to a Manchester rental agency and linked to Daigneault.
