UNH: Body in Portsmouth was student from Windham

WINDHAM — A body recovered Sunday from the Piscataqua River in Portsmouth is that of Windham High graduate Jonathan Zygmont, officials confirmed yesterday.

Zygmont, 19, was a freshman at the University of New Hampshire, missing since Sept. 17.

Officials never suspected foul play. UNH police, in announcing a search for Zygmont, said he may have been dispondent over relationship problems.

The chief medical examiner did not immediately release a cause of death.

Zygmont graduate from Windham High School earlier this year.

He was an honor roll student in Windham and a member of the wrestling team as a high school freshman.

His mother, Lynne, who lives in Windham, said he was an avid hiker.

UNH announced counseling services were available by calling 862-2090.
