---- — LOWELL — A woman told police she used a cooking pot as a weapon to fight off a Lawrence man she said was trying to rape her at knifepoint at a Tewksbury hotel early Sunday.

Frank Harrison, 46, of 249 Ferry St., Lawrence, was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing Friday in Lowell District Court.

Harrison appeared in court Monday with a visible lump on his head and bandages on his cheek and chin.

He is charged with kidnapping, assault to rape armed (knife), and indecent assault and battery on a person over the age of 14.

Harrison pleaded not guilty before Judge Thomas Brennan.

Tewksbury police said they responded to the Extended Stay America at 1910 Andover St. for a report of a man “partly covered with blood and lacerations to the head.”

“Upon arrival, officers were approached by a female victim who told them that the injured male (Harrison) had attempted to rape her at knifepoint and would not allow her to leave the room,” according to a statement from Tewksbury Police. “The victim stated she was able to fend off her attacker by striking him with a cooking pot, forcing him to run away.”

Prosecutors said the woman told police she met Harrison at a party in Lowell, offered to drive her to another party, but instead brought her the Extended Stay.

Harrison was arrested and kept at the Tewksbury Police Station until his arraignment Monday.
