Letter: Lawrence needs more police on street at night

To the editor:

The current state of Lawrence requires that additional police units are needed to curtail increasing crime, particularly in the early morning hours.

These units should be visible continuously throughout the four geographical sections of this municipality. Since it appears that the detective units work mostly during the day shift, the need is for patrol officers to deter crime and to respond to criminal activity more rapidly in the evening hours.

Hopefully, the Lawrence Police Department can secure government grant funding to support this crucial requirement to keep our streets from falling into the hands of thugs looking to support their lifestyle by break-ins and robberies.
