To the editor:
There was once a country called the United States of America, when an entire planet respected our “nation of laws” status. The people abided by the rule of law set before them that was once a cornerstone of our existence, slowly shaped for over 200 years in order to bring justice and liberty to all Americans equally. Upon watching Sen. Rand Paul having to filibuster on behalf all Americans, in the interest of justice and liberty under the United States Constitution, specifically “due process”, the days of a nation of laws are now behind us.
For well over a decade, we have seen two tiers of justice. There’s one justice given to those who have power and influence, and then another system relegated to everyone else. U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder has defined himself recently as a facilitator of this so called two-tiered justice system. Holder apparently wants to usurp Americans’ “due process” on American soil judging by his reluctance to answer outright questions regarding the constitutionality of drone strikes within our borders. Anyone who has followed Holder should know his contempt for the rule of law.
Holder also believes that executives at “too big to fail” banks are now “too big to go to jail.” He believes, like ex-Secretary of the Treasury Tim Geithner, that prosecution of these banks would destabilize the economy and they are therefore free to commit further crimes upon the citizenry. These crimes include laundering money for drug cartels, foreclosure fraud, securities fraud and a host of other crimes they are not prosecuted for. Imagine if you, the average citizen attempted any of the aforementioned crimes?
Holder of course is not alone in this. Our own Congress, state attorneys general, and the Federal Reserve have enabled such criminal activity through legislation or policies, yet Americans keep electing the same crony politicians who enable the injustice committed upon them. Why do voters support this behavior? When these crimes are committed, they are intentional acts, to do harm to your fellow American. The rule of law was supposed to be equal for all. What kind of society do you have when those empowered to enforce the law willfully ignore it?
The American people have been under siege for far too long by too few. We have seen so much injustice inflicted upon us, our liberty stolen, and our children’s futures robbed through financial socialism, and somehow Americans vote for more of it. It matters not whether you’re a Democrat or Republican; they are both at fault and injustices upon the American people will continue until Americans wake up and realize what their own government is doing to them. Or, more injustice will continue, and until it happens to you it won’t be realized, which of course by then, it will be too late.
