Letter: Sandy victims touched by New Hampshire's generosity

To the editor:

I am one of the co-founders and organizers of Operation New Hampshire Cares, a volunteer organization that was formed Nov. 2, after Hurricane Sandy.

Our goal was to organize a food, clothing and supply drive to our fellow citizens in

the New York-New Jersey area. When Glynis Citarelli, of Amhesrt, N.H., and I decided to help our family, friends and fellow citizens, we never expected such a tremendous response.

Your donations filled a 53-foot tractor-trailer truck and a 24-foot box truck,

donated by McDevitt Trucking and MacMillian Transportation of Manchester, N.H.

The caravan of much needed supplies was delivered Saturday, Nov. 17, to several locations in the heavily affected area of Toms River, N.J. The response from the families affected was overwhelming.

Our caring response and donations really touched their hearts, and the folks of Toms

River will never forget what we did and are forever grateful. We should be proud of what we accomplished and the many people we helped.

This experience has awakened us to think about how we can help our neighbors during a

tragedy and in times of need. Operation New Hampshire Cares is trying to organize another drive to the New York-affected area, sometime in December. We are also looking at how we can help the needs in our local communities throughout the year.

On behalf of Operation New Hampshire Cares, we’d like to thank the many businesse that participated as drop-off locations and the extremely generous citizens of New Hampshire.

In the spirit of giving and generosity and from the residents of Toms River. thank you. You should be very proud for helping your neighbors in New Jersey in a time of great need

Neil DeLuca
