To the editor:
President Obama has a lot to explain to us about his handling of the attacks on our embassies and his statement in 1998 that he believes in redistribution of income and wealth.
His actions in the wake of the breach of the U.S. embassy in Cairo as well as the death of our ambassador to Libya and three brave Americans are perplexing and troubling. Why did he insist for over a week that a YouTube video precipitated these events spontaneously when it turns out we were warned of impending trouble?
Where is his outrage over the death of our ambassador, and why did he refuse to answer a reporter's question whether these attacks were acts of war? Instead of addressing the nation concerning these incidents and showing leadership, he opted to go to Las Vegas for a campaign fundraiser.
Why does he continue to apologize to those who attacked us, and why are he and Secretary Clinton apologizing on Pakistan television? The big media shows no interest or concern about Obama's actions, but condemns Mitt Romney for criticizing the administration for apologizing to those who attacked our Cairo embassy.
His redistribution comments should come as no surprise based on his statement to "Joe the Plumber" during the 2008 campaign, when he said he favors spreading the wealth. But we still deserve an explanation. Will the media pursue this story and do what needs to be done or avoid anything that will embarrass Obama as usual?
We can only assume from these remarks that Obama favors socialism over capitalism. We have seen his affinity for redistribution in his constant attacks on the wealthy, demanding more of their income and seemingly comfortable that 47 percent of Americans pay no income taxes while more people now receive a government check than at any time in our history.
There is no question that the big media are doing all they can to prop up Barack Obama's campaign by overlooking his inept handling of foreign and domestic issues while emphasizing any misstep made by the Romney-Ryan campaign.
It is up to those of us who believe in a strong America and less government in our lives to remain confident and undeterred in our efforts to work for the election of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan.
