Letter: Country running out of time under Jimmy Carter No. 2

To the editor:

When I was a young man, I lived through a very dreary period in U.S. history. We had runaway inflation along with mortgage rates approaching 20 percent. We had to wait in line for one or two hours to get a few gallons of gas every other day.

Our country was so ground down by the policies of the president of that time that the country had a misery index to measure it. Yes, I am talking about the worst pesidency I have ever lived through, that of Jimmy Carter.

Unfortunately, our current president has become very competitive with Carter. This administration cheats by removing the cost of food and fuel from the current cost-of-living equation to claim no inflation. I am sure that you are fully aware that our fuel cost has more than doubled and food prices are much higher.

Carter had an unemployment rate of 7.5 pecent while Obama has one over 8 percent. If we include the jobs lost during this presidency, President Obama’s unemployment numbers are actually over 10 percent.

Carter increased taxes and regulations and ruined the economy. Obama increased them even more and ruined the economy even more.

Obama has withdrawn U.S. support of our long-term allies. He has bowed to every despot known to man and weakened our military. Obama’s actions disrespect our heroes and families who sacrificed so much for this freedom.

Obama still thinks his failed policies will work, even though any credible historian knows these dated ideas have never worked. We gave him a chance but he failed. Our country is running out of time and we have to act now. We cannot leave this mess for our kids.

The United States still has a chance. Mitt Romney has an excellent record of turning around businesses and even the Olympics. Our country needs Romney.
