Armed robber nabs $400 in Lawrence

LAWRENCE — An armed robber wearing white latex gloves pulled about $400 from the cash register at a Haverhill Street convenience store early Tuesday night, police said.

The robbery was reported around 7:30 p.m. at City Market, 550 Haverhill St. Surveillance video of the robbery shows a male suspect pulling a handgun from his waistband and pointing it at the employee behind the counter, according to a police report. The suspect is seen wearing a black mask and what appears to be white latex gloves.

After ordering the employee to open the cash register, the suspect reached over the counter and grabbed the money. The suspect dropped some of the money before fleeing toward Providence Street, according to the report.

The store reported approximately $400 in cash was stolen. The suspect was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, jeans and black sneakers and appeared to be thin and around 5-feet-10-inches tall.

Officers checked the surrounding area after the robbery but did not locate any suspects. The incident remains under investigation, police said.
