To the editor:
Stephen Porter has written that Republicans do not believe in climate change, a woman’s right to manage her own body or marriage equality for all ( “Letter: Endorsement glosses over Republican deficiencies,” Sept. 11 ).
Republicans believe in climate change. When the economy is bad, you do not spend all your borrowed money on experiments on climate change. President Obama is excited to be at the forefront of innovation on climate change when the economy is at its worst. He does not want fossil fuels, so he closed 187 electric generating plants. Because of his arrogance, thousands of people are unemployed. He does not have the intelligence to open the Keystone pipelines or other oil exploration fields. Truly, if America develops new fields, it can be energy independent within a few years. Unfortunately, this president has not reached the maturity to take a bold decision.
Obama was proud to say at the Democratic convention that he stopped import of 1 million barrels of oil from other countries. He did not mention that under his leadership the gas price is at an all-time high. When the price of gas was high but lower than now, during Bush period, liberal lap dogs were barking at Bush for high oil prices. Now they are wagging their tails because Obama told them new automobiles with higher gas mileage will save money. He did not tell them, however, due to skyrocketing debt he created and consequent inflation, the price of all automobiles will be higher.
Republicans support woman’s rights. When a woman’s body is in danger during pregnancy, there should be abortion. Otherwise, when a fetus becomes a human being in the womb after three months, one should not kill the baby.
Republicans do not believe in gay marriage. From time immemorial, marriage has been a divine sacrament between a male and a female to produce children. Gays do not produce children. If they want to stay together, they can have civil unions with all their human and civil rights protected by the court.
Children should be raised in a two-parent environment. Liberals have damaged human society by creating one-parent families. Today’s men and women enjoy sex like cats and dogs. They love temporarily to have sex, then they separate, creating a one-parent family. There is no cohesive bond in a liberal society. This is a sign of the degradation of human society. Obama has not done anything to alleviate this problem, and he is ready to give government handouts to single parents. He is now more interested in gay marriage. If Obama is re-elected, it will be a sad day for America.
