Variety of theater and music on tap at the Firehouse

The Firehouse Center for the Arts has a busy lineup over the next two weekends. Here’s a look at what’s coming up at the nonprofit Newburyport theater:

Saturday, Feb. 22

Random Acts 11, 8 p.m. Eight short plays are written, cast, rehearsed and performed as staged readings in just 24 hours. $15.

Friday, Feb. 28

Betany Coffland and Aaron Larget-Caplan, 8 p.m. Mezzo-soprano and classical guitarist present music from three centuries and across the globe. $18 for students, seniors and members; $20 for adults.

Saturday, March 1

Senior Readers’ Theater, 1 p.m. Members of educational program perform scene from three classic British pieces: “Hamlet,” “Sherlock Holmes” and “Plenty.” Free.

Sunday, March 2

Symphony by the Sea, 3 p.m. “Commemorate: Religious and Folk Traditions in the Concert Hall” will feature music inspired by the religious and folk traditions of Eastern Europe. $35 for adults, $5 for students.
