---- — Laughter: It’s good for what ails you

The second annual mental wellness fundraiser for the Haverhill Clubhouse will be held at 8:30 tonight, March 21, featuring Jessica Kirson in “A Comedy Cure All of Humor and Humanity.”

Kirson has a long list of credentials for her ability to make you laugh. She has appeared on “The Tonight Show,” Comedy Central and “Last Comic Standing.”

BoomerVenture Campus, Andover’s program for adventurous residents of the Merrimack Valley who are aged 50-plus, welcomes spring with a full roster of classes and activities. Here are some current offerings. For more, call 978-623-8321, or visit www.boomerventure.com.

:BoomerVenture Screening Room: An independent movie series at 7 p.m. Check website for weekly movie selection and time changes. March 21: “Chicken With Plums.”

Energize With Exercise: Held 6 p.m. Thursdays through May, $45, featuring aerobics, weight training and stretching. No class April 15. Also, the campus is currently offering a six-class punch card for $36, allowing participants to choose classes at their convenience.

:Zumba Intervals: Thursdays through May 16 at 3:30 p.m. Cost is $65. Combine Weight training and Cardio fitness as you dance to Afro-Caribbean music and Latin beats, with flamenco, belly dance, rock and hip hop.

:Serenity Yoga: Thursdays through May 2 at 7:30 p.m. $45. Enter a practice of gentle flowing postures that warm and open the body while quieting the mind. A soothing end to your evening for anyone looking to slow things down for an hour. No previous yoga experience required. Each class will conclude with meditation. Welcome new instructor, Sheila Wescott.

Musical benefit for youth theater programs

Spotlight Playhouse in Haverhill is hosting “Broadway on Essex,” a dinner theater cabaret, as a fundraiser for its youth theater programs. The evening will feature some of the finest local musical theater actors singing their favorite songs from Broadway shows of the last 50 years.

Among the performers are April Foley from North Andover, Bobby Kerrigan from Hamilton, Sandra Vitti from Haverhill, Curt Fennel from Billerica, Kathy Wackowski from Andover, and 10 other talented singers. They will perform solo and in various combinations.
