Alison DeVita and Alyson Shaheen, both of Methuen, were named to the dean's list at Assumption College for the fall 2008 semester.



Natalia Przewozniak, a high school senior from Andover, has been named a Henry Wells Scholar at Wells College.



The following Andover residents qualified for the fall semester dean's list at Babson College — John Chartier, Jessica Huang, Rachel Licciardi, and Katherine Nichols.



Jason Haddad of Methuen has been named to the fall semester dean's list at Babson College.



Victoria Gibson and Gregory Keshian, both of North Andover, have qualified for the fall semester dean's list at Babson College.



Melissa Mann of Methuen was named to the dean's list for the fall 2008 semester at Fairfield University. Mann is a double major in English and Spanish. She is the daughter of Edward and Christine Mann.



Deven Neel of Methuen has been named to the dean's list for the second quarter at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). A third-year student in RIT's College of Liberal Arts, Neel is studying international relations, and will be studying in Japan, at Kanazawa Institute of Technology (KIT) this summer. He is a 2006 graduate of Methuen High School. He is the son of Kevin and Patricia Neel.



Molly Prudden of Andover was named the dean's list for academic achievement during the 2008 fall semester at Colby-Sawyer College. A member of the class of 2012, she is a child development major.



Chloe Sempere of Andover was named the dean's list for academic achievement during the 2008 fall semester at Colby-Sawyer College. A member of the class of 2011, she is a studio art major.



Kara Gulezian of North Andover was named the dean's list for academic achievement during the 2008 fall semester at Colby-Sawyer College. A member of the class of 2012, she is a nursing major.



Brian Goodhue of North Andover has earned an associate in science in nursing from Excelsior College.





Jessica Finocchiaro of Lawrence was named to the fall 2008 dean's list at Roger Williams University. She is a senior majoring in English literature and American studies.



Hope Fried of Andover, a senior at The Governor's Academy in Byfield, will spend next year studying at a boarding school in England, deferring for a year her matriculation at college in the United States.



Christopher Crane, formerly of Andover, was presented with the Eagle badge during a Court of Honor Ceremony at South Church in Andover. Crane completed his Eagle project by recording the oral histories of eight war veterans. He presented the recordings and a short video chronicling their stories to the Westford Museum as part of an ongoing historic preservation effort. A senior at Westford Academy, Crane has been accepted into the School of Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He will be playing his violin this summer on a European Tour through Austria, Italy and Germany with American Music Abroad.



The following Methuen residents were named to the dean's list for the fall 2008 semester at Westfield State College — Samantha Monroe, Stephanie Servideo, Rebecca O'Connell, Ryan Hajjar, Amanda Getchell, and Jennifer Ladd.

Emily Evans, a sophomore at Connecticut College, took part in "Three Weeks Notice," the Dance Club's spring performance. Evans choreographed "Cricket on the Hearth" and danced in "Rewind Maturity," "Spacial Relations" and "Two Thirds." A 2007 graduate of Andover High School, she is the daughter of Jennifer and John Evans of Andover.



Dr. Bonnie Walsh of Methuen graduated from St. George's University School of Medicine in a ceremony held on June 12. Dr. Walsh will perform her residency in Clifton, N.J. at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center. She plans to specialize in family medicine.



Marlena Rosinski, a senior in information technology at Greater Lawrence Technical School in Andover, has been selected as the Outstanding Vocational Student for 2009. Rosinski is being honored at the annual Outstanding Vocational Student Awards Banquet on April 16, at Mechanics Hall, in Worcester.



Christian Anderson, Alexander Cope, Eli Grober, Carl Jackson, Yiwei Li, Ryan Morris, Bowen Qiu, Erica Segall, Patrick Woolsey, all of Andover, have earned recognition as finalists for the National Merit Scholarship award as a result of their performance on the 2008 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) They are seniors at Phillips Academy.





Danielle Cohen of Andover won the Clara and Joseph Ford Scholarship at Northeastern University. She is a third-year student, studying education in the College of Arts and Sciences.



The following Andover residents were named to the winter trimester academic honor roll at Lawrence Academy — high honors were awarded to seniors Timothy Caron, Shannon Muscatello, Jennifer Samel; sophomores Jennifer Caron, Jamie Newsome; and freshman Brett McQuaide. Paul Sartori of Andover, a junior in communications at Bryant University, will work with six other students to manage the Bryant Center, the campus' student union building, for the 2009-2010 academic year. The Bryant Center offers lounges and study rooms, various dining facilities, a bookstore, a game room, and meeting rooms.



Jessica Morgan earned a bachelor of arts degree in language arts compsoite from Hope College in Holland, Mich. She is the daughter of Mark and Sandy Morgan of Andover.



Kelly Wray has achieved dean's list status for the fall 2008 semester at Westfield State College where she is majoring in elementary education. She is the daughter of Bill and Donna Wray of North Andover.



Stephanie Lyons of North Andover was named to the 2008 fall semester dean's list at the University of Delaware. Lyons is a freshman marketing major in the College of Business and Economics.



Alexandria Castaldo and Andrew Young, both of North Andover, earned first honors on Bishop Fenwick High School's third quarter honor roll.



Jessica Morgan, daughter of Mark and Sandy Morgan of Andover, was named to the dean's list for the second semester of the 2008-2009 school year at Hope College.



Matt Gordon of Methuen High School and Angelica Gonzalez of Greater Lawrence Vocational High School have been named New Hampshire Fisher Cats Foundation Scholar-Athletes. They were selected for this award based on their achievements in academics, athletics and in the community. Gordon will attend Saint Anselm College and Gonzalez will attend UMass Lowell.



Kelly Cooke of Andover recently graduated from Noble and Greenough School in Dedham. Cooke was awarded the Davis Cup for sportsmanship.



Abigail Chmielecki, a 2008 graduate of North Andover High School, has completed her first year at Worcester State College. Chmielecki has been a dean's list student and was inducted into the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society. In the fall, she was elected as a Class Senator for the

Student Senate and was elected to the executive board position as chair of public relations. She participated in the annual State House Day. She will attend the NACA Conference in Washington D.C. in July. This year she has participated in the Helping Emerging Leaders Progress Program.



Lawrence resident Ann Tremblay, a geography major at Salem State College, received the National Council for Geographic Education Award at the Geography Department's annual awards dinner on April 17, for excellence in geography.



Army Reserve Pvt. Justin M. Fay has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises. The private is a 2005 graduate of Greater Lawrence Regional Vocational-Technical High School. He is the son of Michael and Dorothy Fay of Methuen.



John K. Pelich III of North Andover has graduated from the Great Lakes Naval Academy. He is continuing his Naval education in Pensacola, Fla.



Air Force Airman Rasec Vargas graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. He is the son of Cesar and Miguelina Vargas of Lawrence.



Michael Houlihan, son of John and Jennifer Houlihan of North Andover, and Debra Fagan of Denver, Colo., graduated cum laude from Bucknell University with a bachelor of arts in economics.



Corinne Sullivan of Methuen graduated from Becker College with a bachelor of science in business administration, management degree.



Emily Qiu, an Andover pianist, was the third-place winner in the 6-7 year old age group in the Massachusetts Music Teachers Association, Inc. Competition. Emily played Mozart's "Variations" and Grechaninov's "The Terrible Event." She has studied piano for the past year under the instruction of teacher Svetlana Seifer of North Andover.



Pfc. Daniel Gauthier of Delta Battery 1st Battalion 40th Field Artillery "Devil Dawg Unit D," has completed basic combat training at the army base in Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. He was accepted into the army's medic training program in San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Laurie Gauthier of Gardner, and Robert Gauthier of Bradford. His grandmother is Geraldine M. Rydle of Lawrence.



Jennifer Tarbox of North Andover was named to Susquehanna University's dean's list for the spring 2009 semester. Tarbox, a junior majoring in history, is a 2007 graduate of North Andover High School and the daughter of William and Gail Tarbox.

Erin Kirkpatrick McAuliffe of Andover was awarded the Bowdoin College Orient Prize. The prize is awarded each spring to staff members of the Bowdoin Orient, the college's student newspaper, who have made contributions to the newspaper in the preceding volume.

Adriana Montalbano, daughter of Paul and Nancy (Lanzo) Montalbano of Andover, received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences on May 15. She was also the recipient of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores Award during the Convocation and Hooding Ceremony, held May 14, at the John Hancock Hall in Boston. Dr. Montalbano is a third-generation pharmacist, preceded by her father, Paul, and grandfather, Tony Montalbano. She has accepted an offer of employment with CVS Pharmacy.



Jennifer Ciofolo, daughter of Robert and Julia Ciofolo of Methuen, has been named to the College of Engineering dean's list for the spring 2009 semester at Northeastern University. She has also been initiated as a member of Chi Epsilon, by the Northeastern University Chapter of Chi Epsilon, the National Civil Engineering Honor Society.



Alicia Specht, daughter of Scott and Rebecca Specht of North Andover, has been named to the dean's list at Hamilton College for the spring 2009 semester. Specht, a junior majoring in art and mathematics, is a graduate of North Andover High School.



Ramon Tejada of Lawrence was honored for his academic excellence at Lafayette College's All-College Honors Convocation. Tejada, a double major in A.B. Spanish and International Economics and Commerce, received the Frank Kline Baker Spanish and Latin American Civilization Award in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures.



Tyler Moore, son of Robert and Deborah Moore of North Andover, graduated from Bates College on Sunday, May 31 with a bachelor's degree in environmental studies. Moore, a 2005 graduate of Brooks School, stared in wrestling and was a High School All-American in lacrosse. After Brooks, he studied for one year at St. Lawrence University before transferring to Bates. This past season he was the leading scorer for the Bates Bobcats lacrosse team.



Sr. Francis Helen Lewandowski celebrates 75 years with the Sisters of Bon Secours, in addition to celebrating her 100th birthday Feb. 28. Sr. Lewandowski attended St. Agnes School of Nursing before entering the Sisters of Bon Secours. As a sister, she served as a nurse and administrator in Methuen.





Jennifer Marino, daughter of Domenic and Kathy Marino of Methuen, received a bachelor's degree from Bates College on May 31. A 2005 graduate of Methuen High School, Marino majored in chemistry at Bates. Her undergraduate activities included four years of varsity soccer, four years of indoor and outdoor track, and holds four school records in track. She was also an Academic All-American. She will begin teaching/coaching fellowship at Phillips Academy in Andover in the fall.



Christopher Gilbert of Methuen, a chemical engineering major at Clarkson University, has earned the distinction of being named a presidential scholar.



Michael Lee of Methuen graduated from Cotting School in Lexington on June 5, at exercises held in the school auditorium.



Stephanie Baez of Lawrence received Salem State's distinguished Silver Key Award at the annual senior awards banquet on May 11. A business accounting major, Baez has a 3.75 grade point average.



He was a contributor during his internship to the morning show at WPRI News Talk Radio, Providence R.I. He collaborated with other class members to create a documentary about the Changing Lives through Literature program offered to inmates in the RI Adult Corrections Facility.


