The Spotlight Playhouse stages Neil Simon’s “The Odd Couple” as the second show of its fourth season. The Haverhill community theater group has been busy rehearsing the play about mismatched roommates Oscar and Felix, and how they navigate through their post marital breakups by moving in with one another. “This is a play that makes you look inwardly about who you really are as a person, because we are all somewhere on the Oscar to Felix spectrum,” says Spotlight Artistic Director Darrell E. Keene Jr. “By realizing who we really are and how it affects others around us, we can become more tolerant and understanding of other individuals.”
The slovenly Oscar Madison is played by Kevin Wilson of Lawrence and neat-nick Felix Ungar by Paul Gallant of Lynn. The show will be performed Sept. 21, 22, 28 and 29 at 8 p.m. and September 30 at 2 p.m. at Riverside Memorial Church, 278 Groveland St., Haverhill. General admission is $15 and seniors are $13. Tickets can be purchased through spotlightplayhouse.org.
Tea and History
Rolling Ridge estate in North Andover is hosting a tea in its European-styled, cobblestone courtyard on Sunday, followed by presentations by three architects who have studied the history of the landmark and designed plans for its renovation and expansion.
This year is the first anniversary of the Conservation Restriction and Trail easement that the town worked out with Rolling Ridge. Town officials and the community are invited to see the grounds, the new organic farm and the plans for its amazing fountain. There is no charge to come to the presentations.
In case of rain, tea and all presentations will be inside the mansion.
Guests also can visit the Lakeside Art Gallery, a partnership with the Andovers Artists Guild to show original art in the Ridge dining room. Artists will be painting en plein air during the tea.
Enjoy an elegant afternoon starting at 2 p.m. Full tea service is available for $18. Rolling Ridge is located at 660 Great Pond Road in North Andover, on the shore of Lake Cochichewick.
