The program included music, dancing and a performance of the nativity story by members of the Baton Twirlers of the Puerto Rican Movement, as well as games and raffles.
Children also received toys donated by several organizations including Toys for Tots, Greater Lawrence Community Action Council, Taller Borinqueno (Puerto Rican Workshop), the Jenniffer Ortiz Foundation, Juventud Boricua (Puerto Rican Youth), New England Puerto Rican Alliance, YMCA and United Methodist Church.
The celebration, popular among Hispanics and some Europeans, honors the visit from Baltazar, Gaspar and Melchior, the three wisemen who brought gifts of incense, gold and myrrh to baby Jesus. It is also known as the Feast of the Epiphany and Little Christmas.
Participants brought canned foods to donate to Lazarus House.
